I’m over it. Got 1 guy to come with me to the ’05 Worland shoot, he did a couple NRA Highpower shoots too and raved about how much he learned, since then nobody. Not 1 swinging dick was willing to come and learn shooting skills, even after I assured them the guys are really cool and helpful. I made new friends and got to know the rangemaster, Mark Spungin, shot with his wife Bev.
They really think they know better, or are too scared to come shoot.
I can’t even get most of them to watch some YouTube vids on marksmanship, they think they don’t need it since they hunt deer and elk.
I’ve tried to show some AR noobs how to use a M-16A2/M-4 25mn target, it’s over their head. They just clamp a scope on are good to go. You know how many youngsters I’ve talked to that have a cleaning kit for their AR………0!!!!!! Broken shell extractor?…..WTF is that? M-16 bandoleer or 10 extra mags? One guy is a gunsmith now, he’s assembled some AR kits.
I’m over it. Fuk’m all. Let them learn OJT.

I’ve offered several young men lessons in riflemaking, total waste of time when you can be on your cell phone instead.

A St. Louis prosecutor is investigating whether the couple that stood outside their mansion aiming guns at protestors broke the law.
Mark and Patricia McCloskey were caught on video carrying what appeared to be a semiautomatic rifle with an extended magazine and a handgun. The protestors were marching to a demonstration outside the St. Louis mayor’s house.
A statement released by the couple Monday says they support the message of Black Lives Matter protesters, blaming “a few individuals” for “violence,” and denied they broke the law.

Mark McCloskey, barefoot in an open-collar pink golf shirt, was seen carrying what appeared to be a semiautomatic rifle with an extended magazine. His wife held a small handgun.
St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner tweeted on Monday that her office is investigating whether the couple broke any laws.
“My office is currently working with the public and police to investigate these events,” she wrote. “Make no mistake: we will not tolerate the use of force against those exercising their First Amendment rights, and will use the full power of Missouri law to hold people accountable.”
In a statement released Monday, the couple denied they broke the law, and said they “support Black Lives Matter.” Violence and destruction of property by a small group of white “agitators” prompted the McCloskeys to fear imminent harm and arm themselves, the statement said.
“The peaceful protesters were not the subject of scorn or disdain by the McCloskeys,” the statement reads. “To the contrary, they were expecting and supportive of the message of the protesters.”
“..In the statement released by the couple, the couple says they acted lawfully on their property.
“The Black Lives Matters movement is here to stay, its the right message, and it is about time,” Albert Watkins, their attorney, said in the statement. “The McCloskeys want to make sure no one thinks less of BLM, its message and the means it is employing to get its message out because of the actions of a few white individuals who tarnished a peaceful protest.”

Re broken shell extractors: I was given a challenge coin by the CSM of 1/8 FA 25th ID. In his position of being an evaluator for my Guard unit as a round-out battalion for his larger formation, he and his people with their dreadlock-garnished K-pots did judge us lesser people.
I knew how to use a broken shell extractor on my Pig. He did not.
Can’t count the n umber of broken shells I’ve removed from M-60 bbl’s, our tank mounted M-60E2 coaxials were fired until they were white hot since the gunner was 4′ from the gun and the bbl wasn’t visible inside it’s hull sleeve.
I have seen several double feeds that broke about 1/2″ above the base, one broken shell inside another broken shell, they get that hot, expand and still keep feeding. During cleaning one guy kept complaining he couldn’t get it completely clean, until I noticed the chamber was shiny brass, went to show the 1stSgt what we had, found 2 more bbl’s in same condition. Wish I’d kept one for a conversation piece.

at the same moment, the blm useful idiots are regularly gathering now
on the sidewalk of one of the local parks on the main drag to proclaim
their bolshevist bullshit (if it’s any consolation, I hope they all get cases
of heat rash+!!!).
Spoke with a close friend the other night about getting together for
range time; he said he’d have to see when it’s possible given his work
as a plumber. He also mentioned that the “NEW & IMPROVED” rear sight
assy. for his SKS just came in and he’s not happy as “it’s made in Taiwan”.
I asked him, “When was the last time you actually took out your SKS and
shot it and did preventive maintenance on it and checked it’s zero?”
He said, “Years ago…haven’t had the time.” He then mentioned that his
leg (the one that he’s had re-constructive surgery on back in the day – plate
with 14 screws) is REALLY acting up on him more and more..and then he
started ranting about all the ‘dumb sheepule choosing to own/use the ‘Toy
Poodle shooter AR15’…it’s a garbage gun that is worthless for killing an
opponent!’
I set him back on course by asking him, “What are YOU doing to get your
medical situation with your leg addressed?…the infrastructure STILL exists
now to address it and similar issues..later may be too late.” He responded,
“Yeah,..I know..but I HAVE to move outta this area..I can’t stand how corrupt
the town of Parker is!!…plus you need money to get medical stuff done!!”
He started to tell me about a list of gun parts and books that he wanted me to
order for him (he has no net access or email of his own..doesn’t even own a
computer or laptop) and I stopped him with, “Wait one minute!!…you want
me to accept $$$ from you to place orders for gun parts and books for you
but you WON’T spend any of that $$$ to go get your medical issue with your
leg addressed?!?….That’s not at all a logical priority in my view. BEFORE
you do anything else, you need to see about addressing that situation before
it becomes irreversible and you possibly loose the leg.”
Before I could say more, he said he had another call, possibly for a plumbing
job coming in and had to disconnect. I have yet to hear back from him.
As it now stands, with his physical impairment, my friend would be a
“mobility kill” if things go utterly spicy…and he knows it too.
No, all of us DON’T have enough hard hearted armed friends…
and time is running out…

There are slim pickings to work with. My gun nut buddy is sandbox war one vet and that is about it.
He lives about twenty miles away in a rural town that fights hard to keep out the improvementation.
The community just barely stopped some particle board apartments for the replacements and a religious center.
Ammo and weapons are getting expensive and hard to find again so practice time will be in decline.
Gun sales are up 150% and the local world glass gun shop is struggling to keep up.
I have wondered about this: we have a small 300 meter range on one of our farms. At 73, I shoot on a regular basis and have asked various individuals around here (small population) to join me: no takers. Hell, I’ll even supply the ammunition but, nope – sorry, “I have to (fill in the blank)”. But guess who’s ‘coming for dinner’ when/if thing go south. Have learned to not be the nice guy, keep (for the most part) my mouth shut and just go about my own business. Keeps life simpler and certainly cheaper I suppose ….
Just went to the range yesterday with youngest son and GF and my wife. Did well and improved performance, identified issues.
Working on building Rhodesian rig with youngest son today (he is on leave from military). All my lads are GTG on weapons but only two train seriously.
Did the Appleseed trail for five years (Shoot Boss) and went on sabbatical in 2012 before my first deployment to AFG and never hit the trail again.
Have a best friend from the service who I take a serious course with once a year; we took Bob Keller’s Gamut Resolutions course in April this year. 1700rds rifle and pistol. Not only improves skills but provides an ass-kicking gaps analysis to unfuck yourself.
My family is dialed in but my friends who are serious are few and far between.
Today should be a day of reflection, and thanking a nation for quality of life we have experienced. Independence Day, is the story of how we came to be, a great independent people.
All it takes for evil to prevail, is for good men to do nothing.
Us boys on our mountains, may have to,drive a bit, yea going to be a hassle, but are you,willing to,allow evil into your AO, were not.

I repeat: Treat all you train and help with dignity, and respect, or you will not succeed. Lost count of all the corporals and buck sgts. I had to retrain to follow this lesson. While a private, I received utter contempt and pure hatred from my supervisors, officer and non-coms, and I never forgot it. I learned, but only grudgingly, and with equal disregard. The thing that keeps me going now is persistence, and determination, in the face of apathy, laziness, and boredom. People don’t want to get off their ass and train, but you keep making the effort to train them, and you don’t stop because of failure. Had a relative who I’ve been after for 20+yrs to get armed and trained, and she showed up this month with an LTC (Texas), and wanting to get an AR and training. I didn’t train her, someone else did. Long as it happened, I’m more than happy with that. Win some, lose some. Fight like the bastard you are for the wins. It ain’t about us. It’s about the cause.
